Lawsuit Filed After Construction Worker Suffers Fatal Fall on Worksite
A lawsuit has been filed over the death of a construction worker who fell 19 stories from a building in Charlotte. The 24-year-old was working as a mason with a Legacy Union subcontractor when he fell to his death as a result of an elevator hoist malfunction. Named as defendants in the lawsuit are Carolina Elevator Service, Inc., Gilbane Building Company and Gilbane, Inc. and USA Hoist Company Inc. As stated in the complaint, the man's death "was proximately caused by the defendants’ negligence, or other misconduct and would have, if the decedent had lived, entitled him to bring an action for damages."
