Apotex Expands Metformin Hydrochloride Recall Due to Carcinogen

Apotex has expanded a recall of Metformin Hydrochloride Extended-Release Tablets, USP 500mg due to the presence of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA). The previously announced recall to the Retail Level has been expanded to the Consumer Level. The original recall was initiated on May 29, 2020, after testing revealed the NDMA, which is classified as a probable human carcinogen.
