Are Employers Obligated to Ensure Safe Workplace As Economies Reopen?

As state economies are beginning to reopen, many wonder if employers are obligated to ensure the workplace is safe and if they can be held liable if employees contract the coronavirus. Legal experts say that while health care providers are required to follow federal safety guidelines to guard against contagion, other employers are not. Because of this, workers may have a hard time proving firms liable if they contract COVID-19.
